It’s a no-brainer. The Los Angeles Clippers have selected Blake Griffin with the first overall

pick. Griffin is a power forward playing for the Oklahoma Sooners of the University of Oklahoma He was named the Associated Press, the John Wooden Award, the Naismith Award and the Sporting News player of the year for the 08-09 college basketball season so he has the credentials to back up the hype. He has also averaged 22.7 points, 14.4 rebounds and 1.2 blocks for the season. He reminds scouts of a young Carlos Boozer of the Utah Jazz.

The 2009 NBA Draft was completed on Thursday, June 25 (Friday, June 26 here in the Philippines) at Madison Square Garden’s WaMu Theater. It begun at 7 pm EST and was shown on ESPN and BTV.

The Shaq to Cavs rumor that has been circulating since February has now been confirmed. This was after the trade sending Shaquille O’Neal to the Cleveland Cavaliers was finalized today. In return, the Phoenix Suns will get Ben Wallace, Sasha Pavlovic, the 46th pick in the 2009 NBA Draft and $500,000 in cash.

In a nut shell, the trade is very beneficial for the Cleveland Cavaliers. Shaq even at age 37 is definitely an upgrade over former 4-time Defensive Player of the Year Ben Wallace and his aging knees. Sasha Pavlovic is a bench-rider and was added as a filler. It means that they are giving up two worthless players for a solid Hall of Famer who can still give them 18 points and 8 rebounds every night. Aside from that, their core of players with Lebron James at the center is still intact. That’s nice.

There are two sides to every conflict. In the upcoming movie Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen, two opposing factions of sentient robots are battling it out for worldwide supremacy with the Decepticons plotting an evil plan while the Autobots trying to prevent that from happening.

The Decepticons are the antagonists. The bad side. The villains.

Working for GEM’s CLIC (Computer Literacy and Internet Connection) component has allowed me to travel to places in Mindanao I wouldn’t have the chance to if I wasn’t employed under the program.

I work in the field as a Technical Specialist for the provinces of Cotabato, Maguindanao and Sultan Kudarat. Since 2004, I have managed to visit all the municipalities under them except Buldon in Maguindanao and Palimbang in Sultan Kudarat. I call them my last frontiers. Last August 2008, I was able to visit Buldon to look for possible recipient schools for our program. Since then, I have gone to the place at least five times already. On the other hand, I haven’t had the chance to go to Palimbang because I yielded the place to my companion Dandy who is in charge of South Cotabato and Sarangani. It was because even if the municipality is part of Sultan Kudarat, its geographical location was nearer to Sarangani (and to Dandy); sort of being orphaned from the rest of its siblings.
