2009 NBA Trade Rumors | Shaq to Cavs

Category: Basketball

The rumor mill has been abuzz with news of a possible trade that will send Shaquille O’Neal to the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Phoenix Suns will get in return Ben Wallace and Sasha Pavlovic and finally get rid of Shaq’s fat paycheck.

This trade was almost pushed-through before the trade deadline last February. When the Suns executives were asking for Wally Szczerbiak instead of Wallace, it was canceled.

During that time, the team was hovering at the 6th-8th playoff spot in the Western Conference. So they decided not to continue with the trade anymore and wanted to see if the trio of Shaq, Steve Nash and Amare Stoudemire under new coach Alvin Gentry can make a deep playoff run. But that didn’t happen.

When Kobe Bryant was foiled last year by the Boston Celtics in his first attempt to get an NBA championship ring without Shaquille O’Neal, the Big Cactus apparently found pleasure in his inability by making a rap asking Kobe how his ass tastes. Category: MMA

My prediction was right on target! Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipović scored a 1st round KO over Mustapha Al-turk in the undercard of UFC 99: The Comeback.

It might as well be the main event since the title was named as such because Mirko Cro Cop is returning to the UFC for the first time since his unanimous decision loss to Cheick Kongo at UFC 75 in 2007. And in a truly dominating fashion, he showed the MMA world that he has returned.

UFC 99 Video | Rich Franklin vs Wanderlei Silva

Category: MMA

In the main event of UFC 99: The Comeback, former UFC  middleweight champion Rich “Ace” Franklin defeated Wanderlei “The Axe Murderer” Silva via unanimous decision in a very exhaustive 3-round bout of 5 minutes each.

Franklin got the first 2 rounds in his favor by fighting methodically and utilizing his speed and reach to keep Silva at bay. He was already leading in the judge’s scorecards after two. In the 3rd round, Silva was more active and unleashed a flurry of punches in a last ditch attempt to win via knock-out. But Franklin survived it and managed to get Silva for a takedown. That’s all he need. If not for that and the fight was extended for 30 seconds more, The Axe Murderer might get the KO.
