Who would have thought this to be possible?

At 7:30 PM tomorrow at the Araneta Coliseum, NBA legends led by 6-time MVP Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (who is also the number one scorer in NBA history) will challenge PBA legends led by Alvin Patrimonio and Allan Caidic for an exhibition game which is part of the NBA Asia Challenge Tour.

It will be the battle of the behemoths and titans albeit aging ones.

The NBA roster is composed of legends Dominique Wilkins, Tim Hardaway, Robert Horry and Vlade Divac. Abdul-Jabbar will not play but will instead coach the team as assistant to Rory White. The team will be supported by D-League stars: Derrick Dial, Chris Ellis, Marcus Hubbard, Russell Robinson, Lanny Smith and Billy Thomas.

Aside from Patrimonio and Caidic, other legends who will suit up for the PBA team are Ronnie Magsanoc, Benjie Paras and Kenneth Duremdes. They will be supported by All-Stars: Asi Taulava, Wynne Arboleda, Dondon Hontiveros, Willie Miller, Marc Pingris, Jay-R Reyes, Arwind Santos, Joachim Thoss, Enrico Villanueva and Joseph Yeo. Coach Yeng Guiao will call the shots.

Wow! Never before that a basketball event as grand as this happened in Philippine hoops history. This game should be exciting. The legends might already have creaking knees but expect them to prove to their fans that they still have what it takes that made them legends in the first place.

Unfortunately, this game will not be televised live. A replay will be shown on CS/9 at 7:00 PM on September 20, Sunday.
