Kimbo Slice Knocked Out in 14 Seconds!Category: MMA
Kimbo Slice has made a living challenging some big punks on the street and posting the videos of his fights at YouTube. Because of that, he became an internet sensation and a household name.
So when he decided to become a professional mixed-martial arts fighter, his matches were all anticipated by millions. He won his fist three matches and his third one against James Thompson at EliteXC: Primetime on May 31, 2008 set the record for the the most-watched MMA fight in American history with more than 7 million viewers.
He is fast becoming the MMA poster boy that promoters all envisioned him to be.
Then on October 4, 2008 at EliteXC: Heat, Kimbo Slice was supposed to have his fourth match and fight Hall of Famer Ken Shamrock. When Shamrock received a cut to the left eye during a warm-up only hours before the fight was to take place, Seth Petruzelli was chosen as the replacement. Slice agreed to take the fight after receiving a raise in pay, and took in $500,000.
In that bout, Kimbo Slice was given a dose of his own medicine when he lost against Seth Petruzelli… badly.
Make that very badly…
…in only 14 seconds, via hard right by Petruzelli above Kimbo’s left eye.

There was an ensuing controversy after the fight when Petruzelli said that EliteXC promoters tried to dissuade him from using certain fighting techniques against Slice. The Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation started a preliminary investigation on the events surrounding the fight and its outcome.
Because of that hoopla, Kimbo Slice was criticized as a hoax, as a fighter being protected to preserve his invincible and legendary status. EliteXC was also forced to go bankrupt.
By joining the tenth season of The Ultimate Fighter, Kimbo is looking for redemption and respect.
