New Moon is the second installment in The Twilight Saga by novelist Stephenie Meyer.
Following the success of the film adaptation of the first book Twilight, which was released in November 2008, New Moon is currently conquering the silver screen as well.
Kristen Stewart (as the human Bella Swan), Robert Pattinson (as the vampire Edward Cullen) and Taylor Lautner (as the werewolf Jacob Black) returns in a love triangle setup.
SYNOPSIS (from IMDB):
After Bella recovers from the vampire attack that almost claimed her life, she looks to celebrate her birthday with Edward and his family. However, a minor accident during the festivities results in Bella’s blood being shed, a sight that proves too intense for the Cullens, who decide to leave the town of Forks, Washington for Bella and Edward’s sake. Initially heartbroken, Bella finds a form of comfort in reckless living, as well as an even-closer friendship with Jacob Black. Danger in different forms awaits.
BOX OFFICE:
The movie has already surpassed its budget of $50 million on its opening day alone on November 20. It even set the record for the highest grossing opening day in history taking in $72.7 million at the box office and breaking the previous record holder, The Dark Knight. It also set the biggest midnight opening in history with $26.3 million previously held by Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince’s $22.2 million.
