UFC 106 | Ortiz vs Griffin 2 Official Fight Card

Just a week after UFC 105: Couture vs Vera, the Ultimate Fighting Championship is returning with UFC 106: Ortiz vs Griffin.

The main event features returning Tito “The Huntington Beach Bad Boy” Ortiz in a light-heavyweight match against Tyson Griffin. This will be the second match between the two as their first at UFC 59: Reality Check last April 15, 2006 resulted in a split-decision victory for Ortiz.

It will be held at the Mandalay Bay Events Center, Las Vegas, Nevada, USA on November 21, 2009.

Ortiz is coming off a loss against UFC Light-Heavyweight Champion Lyoto Machida at UFC 84 and Griffin a 1st Round TKO loss against Anderson Silva at UFC 101.

Firepower | Pacman Rewrites History

At the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA this November 14, 2009, Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao will try to rewrite history and get a record-breaking 7th world title in as many divisions. Pacquiao is hoping to break the tie with boxing legend Oscar dela Hoya who has won six world titles in six different weight divisions.

In his way? WBO welterweight champion Miguel “Junito” Cotto, Jr. who has suffered only one defeat in his 35-bout career.

Forrest Griffin is hoping to get back on the winning track after losing via 1st round TKO to Anderson Silva at the co-main event of UFC 101. Griffin is a former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion.

In the third episode of HBO’s Pacquiao-Cotto 24/7, Manny Pacquiao’s upcoming movie titled “Wapakman” was mentioned.

Jimmy Kimmel even showed the audience a mini-poster of the movie when Manny guested on his TV show live on ABC last November3.

Wapakman is a science fiction comedy movie which topbills Filipino boxing great Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao.

SYNOPSIS:

It is about Magno, a father with 5 children but was left behind by his wife Magda to work as a nurse in Italy. Contrary to popular belief, it is Rufa Mae Quinto who plays as her leading lady and not Nicole Scherzinger of the Pussycat Dolls. She was Manny’s first choice but due to conflict in schedule, she begged off from doing the movie.

Manny Pacquiao on Jimmy Kimmel Live!

In his first nationally televised talk show appearance in the US, Filipino boxing sensation and the current pound-for-pound the best boxer in the world Manny Pacquiao had a guest stint on the American primetime television talk show, Jimmy Kimmel Live! on ABC last November 3.

Manny was all smiles as he enters and the crowd starts to chant his name prompting host Jimmy Kimmel to say he don’t want to think he’s in a fight.

Asked if he has ever played Pacman, Manny replies “No” and that his dog’s name is Pacman. I think Manny is having trouble comprehending some of the questions.

Pacquiao Cotto 24 7 Episode 4

Episode 3 of HBO’s Pacquiao-Cotto 24/7 opens with coach Freddie Roach already happy with Manny Pacquiao’s training and sparring sessions as he is more serious and focused now.

There’s also a take on Pacquiao’s new movie Wapakman in which he plays a super hero. Despite criticisms from others, Roach says Manny is doing this just for the fun of it. Pacquiao was also featured on Jimmy Kimmel Live! and belts out a song. Ugh!

We learned how Miguel Cotto met his best friend Brian Perez and Manny Pacquiao his assistant trainer Buboy Fernandez.
