In the 90s and earlier this decade, Roy Jones Jr. was so dominant that he has compiled a 49-1 record with his only loss coming via disqualification against Montell Griffin. He even defeated John Ruiz by a 12-round unanimous decision for the WBA heavyweight championship becoming the first former middleweight champ to win a heavyweight title in 106 years.
For his efforts, he was named “Fighter of the Decade” for the 1990s by the Boxing Writers Association of America.
But that was a long time ago. At age 40, Father Time is finally catching up on one of the best pound for pound boxers ever. In his last 10 fights, 5 were defeats.
The most recent one was at the hands of Australian Danny Green, the IBO Cruiserweight champion at the Acer Arena, Sydney, Australia on December 2, 2009.
At 2:02 in the 1st Round, the referee stopped the bout and awarded the TKO win to Green.

Roy Jones, Jr. is supposed to fight Bernard Hopkins for a rematch next year but due to this loss, the fight might be called off. Heck, it might even be the end of Jones’ magnificent career.
He was reportedly paid a handsome $10 million to travel to Australia for his first professional fight in foreign soil. Some say the fight was rigged.
What do you think?
