UFC 107 | Frank Mir Chokes Out Cheick KongoCategory: MMA
Frank Mir is no stranger to the UFC as 14 of his 16 career MMA fights were held inside the Octagon.
Mir is also a two-time former UFC Heavyweight Champion and currently ranked the #3 heavyweight in the world by Sherdog. Along with Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, he was one of the coaches for Season 8 of the UFC-produced reality show, The Ultimate Fighter.
At UFC 100, Mir challenged Brock Lesnar for the UFC Heavyweight Championship title but lost by technical knockout when Herb Dean stopped the fight at 1:48 in the 2nd round.
Cheick Kongo is also a familiar face for UFC fans as he will be making his 11th consecutive fight inside the Octagon. He is 7-3 in his previous 10 UFC bouts.
Frank Mir (12 wins-4 losses) despite losing to Brock Lesnar is still a legitimate heavyweight title contender. He is an excellent submission fighter with good Muay Thai skills. Cheick Kongo (14 wins-5 losses-1 draw) always looks to finish his opponent in a stand-up as 9 of his 14 wins were via knockout.
Mir will of course shoot and try to bring Kongo to the ground. One loose limb from Kongo is all Mir needs to pull a 2nd Round Submission win.
