This January 2, 2010; in the undercard of UFC 108: Evans vs Silva at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA, Junior “Cigano” dos Santos meets Gilbert “The Hurricane” Yvel.

Dos Santos (10 wins-1 loss) is is a practitioner of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and currently holds a brown belt. Dos Santos trains his Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu under Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and Demian Maia. Santos has also competed as a kickboxer, earning an undefeated record of 18-0 in that sport. He currently reigns as the Brazilian heavyweight kickboxing champion. His most impressive win to date was against Mirko Cro Cop at UFC 103.

Yvel (36 wins-13 losses-1 draw) was one of the first Dutch fighters who successfully applied the Muay Thai striking style to MMA. He possesses an arsenal of strikes and kicks as befitting his Muay Thai training, and is famous for his signature “flying knee” strike. Despite being a veteran of 51 fights, this will be his first inside the Octagon.

PREDICTION:

This will be the start of Yvel’s successful UFC campaign. He will win via 2nd Round KO.
