Google has featured today in its homepage a doodle of an apple tree. It added a nice touch to it as one of the apples fall down from the branch.

That falling apple is an integral part of Sir Isaac Newton’s biography.
One day when Newton was sitting under an apple tree, an apple supposedly fell down on his head. This prompted him to think, “Why should that apple always descend perpendicularly to the ground? Why should it not go sideways or upwards, but constantly to the Earth’s centre?”
This prompted him to formulate his theory of gravitation.
So why is this doodle on Google? Well, It’s Sir Isaac Newton’s birthday!
The man was born on 4 January 1643 (367 years ago) at Woolsthorpe-by-Colsterworth Lincolnshire, England.
