Urijah “California Kid” Faber returns to the World Extreme Cagefighting organization after twice losing his Featherweight belt to Mike Brown. His matchup with Raphael Assuncao will co-headline WEC 46: Varner vs Henderson.

WEC 46 will be held this January 10, 2010 at the ARCO Arena in Sacramento, California, USA.

Faber (22 wins-3 losses) is the former WEC featherweight champion and held the title for over two years until his loss to Mike Brown at WEC 36 on November 5, 2008. Prior to his loss to Mike Brown, Faber was ranked the #1 featherweight fighter in the world by both Sherdog and MMA Weekly. Currently Faber is ranked the #3 featherweight in the world by Sherdog.

Assuncao (14 wins-1 loss) is currently ranked as the #9 featherweight in the world by Sherdog and MMA Weekly.
