The 2010 movie adaptation of Lewis Carroll novels Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking-Glass promises to be an epic 3D fantasy adventure.
Alice in Wonderland combines live action and animation. Today’s technology enables visionary Director Tim Burton to finally bring to the big screen his own rendition of the magical world that Alice first encountered as a 9-year old girl.
The fantasy world is populated by peculiar and anthropomorphic creatures. Here is the list of Alice in Wonderland characters that appear in the movie.
Alice Kingsley – now 19 years old, she follows the White Rabbit into Wonderland she visited 10 years earlier (but couldn’t remember) and was told that she is the only one who can slay the Jabberwock, the dragon who terrorizes the inhabitants of Wonderland under the rule of the Red Queen. The character is portrayed by Mia Wasikowska.
The Mad Hatter – portrayed by Johnny Depp, the character is Alice’s ally. The orange hair is an allusion to the mercury poisoning suffered by many hatters who used mercury to cure pelts.

Iracebeth, the Red Queen – this adaptation of the character is a combination of the Red Queen and the Queen of Hearts. Helena Bonham Carter plays it as the older sister of the White Queen. She also hates animals, and she proves this by using animals as furniture.

Ilosovic Stayne, the Knave of Hearts – he is the head of the Red Queen’s Army. Seven feet, six-inches tall, with a scarred face and a heart-shaped patch covering his left eye, Stayne is an arrogant, tricky character who follows the Red Queen’s every order. Played by Crispin Glover.
Mirana, the White Queen – Anne Hathaway stars. She comes from the same gene pool as the Red Queen. She really likes the dark side, but she’s so scared of going too far into it that she’s made everything appear very light and happy. But she’s living in that place out of fear that she won’t be able to control herself.

The Cheshire Cat – he is a cat with the ability to appear and disappear. He is all calm, casual sensuality with a seductive grin that masks his cowardice. Portrayed by Stephen Fry.

The White Rabbit – The White Rabbit works for the Red Queen, but is also a secret member of the Underland Underground Resistance. He was sent (by the Mad Hatter) to search for Alice. Michael Sheen plays the part.

Absolem, the Caterpillar – Alan Rickman as the Caterpillar is a hookah-smoking caterpillar exactly three inches high which, according to him, “is a very good height indeed”.

The Jabberwock – voiced by Christopher Lee. The Jabberwock is a vicious and nasty dragon that is owned by the Red Queen.

The Dormouse – played by Barbara Windsor. She is a character in “The Mad Hatter’s Tea Party”. The Dormouse is always falling asleep during the scene, waking up every so often.

The March Hare - the Red Queen’s chief chef. He has a habit of ringing his large ears with his paws, and will be voiced by Paul Whitehouse.

Tweedledum and Tweedledee – The Tweedle brothers never contradict each other, even when one of them, according to the rhyme, “agrees to have a battle”. Rather, they complement each other’s words. Matt Lucas face is digitally added to the bodies of both Tweedledum & Tweedledee.

The Dodo – voiced by Michael Gough.

Bayard, the Bloodhound – voiced by Timothy Spall.

Alice’s journey starts at the common place of social inadequacy and keeps the track of the character that finds itself in the way of its own faith and finally accepts it. Nothing new.

Eh alice and wonderland was already weird, and burton always tries to outdo the weird, its just unnecessary. And the mad hatter seems to have a bigger role than alice and why? oh because its Johhny Depp. It just didnt do anything for me
