At the 82nd Academy Awards, the stars came down glamorously to earth.

The annual awards ceremony presented by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences took place on March 7, 2010 at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles, California, USA.

It was hosted by first-timer Alec Baldwin and 3-time host Steve Martin.

The movie “The Hurt Locker” came out as the biggest winner as it beat “Avatar” and others for the Best Picture Award. It also got 6 awards out of 9 nominations. Its Director Kathryn Bigelow becomes the first woman to win the Academy Award for Best Director.

Avatar only claimed 3 awards out of 9 nominations: Art Direction, Cinematography, and Visual Effects.
