In the co-main event of UFC on Versus 1: Vera vs Jones, two Brazilians in the heavyweight division meets for the first time.

Junior “Cigano” dos Santos will match-up with Gabriel Gonzaga this March 21, 2010 at the 1STBANK Center (formerly Odeum Colorado) in Broomfield, Colorado, USA in the first ever LIVE UFC event that will air on a national sports cable network.

Dos Santos (10 wins, 1 loss) is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu practitioner nder Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and Demian Maia, and currently holds a brown belt. Santos has also competed as a kickboxer, earning an undefeated record of 18-0 in that sport. He currently reigns as the Brazilian heavyweight kickboxing champion. His most impressive win to date was against Mirko Cro Cop at UFC 103. In his last fight, he knocked-out Gilbert Yvel at UFC 108 in the 1st round.

Gonzaga (11 wins, 4 losses) holds a black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. He was a former contender for the UFC heavyweight championship but was defeated via TKO by Randy Couture at UFC 74. In his last fight at UFC 102, Gonzaga defeated Chris Tuchscherer via TKO at 2:27 of the first round.
