On March 31, 2010 at Bojangles Coliseum in Charlotte, North Carolina, USA Takanori “Fireball Kid” Gomi will make his UFC debut against Kenny “Ken-Flo” Florian.

The two headlines the UFC Fight Night 21: Florian vs. Gomi. This is a side-event for the UFC and is shown on free TV (Spike TV channel) as the preliminary for The Ultimate Fighter Season 11 premiere.

Florian (12 wins, 4 losses) is currently ranked by multiple MMA publications as the number-three lightweight in the world. He is a season 1 The Ultimate Fighter middleweight runner-up to Diego Sanchez. At UFC 101, he lost to BJ Penn for the UFC Lightweight Championship. In his last fight at UFC 107, he nailed Clay “The Carpenter” Guida.

Gomi (31 wins, 5 losses) is a former Shooto Welterweight Champion and was the final holder of the lightweight title from defunct promotion Pride Fighting Championship. He is also a four-time All Japan Combat Wrestling champion.
