Out of the original 65 basketball teams all over the USA that started the March Madness, only two teams managed to beat the odds and qualified for the NCAA championship game on April 5, 2010, 9:21 PM ET at the Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana, USA.

The Duke University’s Blue Devils and the Butler University’s Bulldogs survived five grueling rounds in the NCAA Men’s Division I Basketball Tournament to reach the finals and battle it out for supremacy over the right to be called the NCAA champions for the 2009-10 season.

Duke steamrolled over West Virginia while Butler won a very close game against Michigan State in their respective NCAA Final Four 2010 games last April 3, 2010 to set up a Duke vs Butler NCAA championship game between two private schools in 25 years since when Villanova and Georgetown met in 1985.

Duke (34-5) is the South Region’s #1 seed and is the only #1 seed to make it this far. Duke has won three national titles, in 1991, 1992 and 2001. This is the Blue Devils’ 15th Final Four appearance, and they were runners-up in 1964, ’78, ’86, ’90, ’94 and ’99.

Butler (32-4) is the #5 seed for the West Region. This is Butler’s first appearance in the championship game; the Bulldogs never even had been to the Elite Eight before this season.
