Dan “Hendo” Henderson is the only MMA fighter to concurrently hold two titles in two different weight classes in a major MMA promotion; when he became Pride FC middleweight and welterweight champion in 2007.

When Pride was dissolved, he jumped back to the UFC where he is a former middleweight champion and his last fight against Michael “The Count” Bisping gave him the Knockout of the Year 2009 due to the massive bomb he dropped that knocked out Bisping cold in the 2nd round of their bout at UFC 100.

At Strikeforce: Nashville, Henderson will make his debut in the Strikeforce organization after he signed a four-fight, 16-month deal with Strikeforce on December 5, 2009 when his contract with UFC expired.

Due to his stature as one of the top-ranked middleweight MMA fighters in the world, he is immediately given a shot at the Strikeforce middleweight championship title currently held by Jake Shields who will be defending it for the first time.

Dan Henderson (25 wins, 7 losses) is a vicious striker who has a strong wrestling background. He is a veteran who holds notable victories over Renzo Gracie, Rich Franklin, Vitor Belfort, Antônio Rodrigo Nogueira, and Wanderlei Silva to name a few.

Jake Shields (24 wins, 4 losses) is the first and last Elite XC Welterweight Champion. He is a Brazilian jiu jitsu expert who have not lost in almost five years, winning 13 in a row during that time and finishing 6 of his last 8 opponents in the first round.
