Ben “Smooth” Henderson defends his WEC Lightweight title for the first time against Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone in the co-main event of WEC 48.

This will be a rematch after their first bout at WEC 43 won by Henderson for the Interim WEC Lightweight Championship.

Henderson (11 wins, 1 loss) unified the WEC Lightweight championship when he submitted Jamie “Showtime” Varner at WEC 46 via a guillotine choke.

Cerrone (11 wins, 2 losses) started out as a Muay Thai kickboxer where he was undefeated with 28 wins and 1 draw before becoming  a mixed-martial artist. His striking skills are outstanding but he is an expert on the ground as well as 10  of his MMA wins were by submission.

In his last fight at WEC 45, he submitted Ed “9mm” Ratcliff via Rear Naked Choke in the third round.
