Edwin Valero has committed suicide in his prison cell.
This is what I read from Wikipedia as I was browsing his entry:
Knowing the tendency of some people to edit wikis and write preposterous entries, I verified the news with a tweet from YahooNews:
This is a very sad turn of events for Valero after allegedly admitting to killing his 24-year-old wife, Jennifer Carolina Viera in a hotel in Valencia, Carabobo, Venezuela.
Edwin Valero, nicknamed “El Inca” alluding to an Indian warrior, is a former WBA Super Featherweight Champion and WBC Lightweight Champion.
He first came into prominence when he won his first 18 fights as a professional by first-round knockout to set a world record (that record has since been broken by Tyrone Brunson).
Among Filipino fans, he was known as the boxer who Manny Pacquiao said beat up tricycle drivers on the way to compiling a 27-0 record, all by knockout. That comment prompted Valero to say that Pacquiao is a cab driver himself.
In death, he prevented a Pacquiao vs Valero bout from ever happening
He might have also just tarnished his otherwise sterling 27-0 record (all knockouts) in his lifetime.
+ RIP Edwin “El Inca” Valero +
