The First Ever YouTube Video

.....

Youtube, the most popular video sharing website was created by Chad Hurley, Steve Chen and Jawed Karim; three former PayPal employees last February 2005.

The domain name www.youtube.com was activated on February 14, 2005 but it was not until April 23 at 8:27 PM that the first video was uploaded to YouTube.

To commemorate that historic event, here’s the very first YouTube video titled “Me at the zoo” showing founder Jawed Karim at the San Diego Zoo, California, USA.

It was shot by Yakov Lapitsky and lasts for only 19 seconds.

In November 2006, YouTube was bought by Google Inc. for $1.65 billion, and is now operated as a subsidiary of Google.

Today, YouTube is ranked as the third most visited website on the Internet, behind Google and Facebok.

YouTube is one of the main reasons behind the proliferation of viral videos.
