Brett “The Grim” Rogers is an undefeated heavyweight MMA fighter with a perfect 10-0 record.

But that was before he met Fedor “The Last Emperor” Emelianenko last November.

Heavier by at least 30 lbs. and taller by 5 inches, many thought that Rogers will spoil Emelianenko’s debut for Strikeforce and will give him his first ever unquestionable defeat.

He was successful but only in the first round managing to open a cut in Fedor’s nose. But in the second round, a hard overhand right from Fedor dropped Rogers to the ground finishing him off with a flurry of punches to the head.

Looking to redeem himself, he is given a chance for Alistair “Demolition Man” Overeem’s Strikeforce Heavyweight Championship title at Strikeforce: Heavy Artillery.

Incidentally, this will be Overeem’s first defense of the title he won against Paul Buentello last November 2007. Injuries and moonlighting in Japan’s Dream organization prevented him from doing so earlier.

Alistair Overeem (32 wins, 11 losses) is a Muay Thai kickboxer who is a submission expert as well. Twelve of his wins were by way of knockout while nineteen by submission.

Rogers (10 wins, 1 loss) ranked #5 among heavyweight fighters by Sherdog and #7 by MMAweekly is a strong heavy puncher who finished 90% of his fights by way of knockout.

UPDATE May 15, 2010: Overeem defeated Rogers via TKO (strikes) at 3:40 of round 1 to retain the Strikeforce Heavyweight championship.
