On August 15, 2009 at Strikeforce: Carano vs. Cyborg, Cristiane Santos fought Gina Carano on the first time that a major promotion had featured a main event between women.

After knocking Carano out in the 1st round, Santos won the Strikeforce Women’s Featherweight Championship and she was instantly catapulted into fame as the face of women’s mixed martial arts.

Albeit not as charismatic and as hot as Gina Carano is, the Brazilian Cyborg is a legitimate fighter with 7 of his 9 wins coming by way of knockout.

In the co-main event of Strikeforce / M-1 Global: Fedor vs. Werdum on June 26, 2010 at HP Pavilion in San Jose, California, USA, Santos looks to defend her crown against Jan “Cuddles” Finney.

Cristiane Santos (9 wins, 1 loss) is currently the #2-ranked pound-for-pound female MMA fighter in the world by MMARising.com. In her first defense of her title at Strikeforce: Miami, she defeated Marloes Coenen via TKO in the 3rd Round.

Jan Finney (8 wins, 7 losses) is making her Strikeforce debut. In  her last fight at Freestyle Cage Fighting 40, she defeated Adrienna Jenkins via Split Decision.
