Lebron James finally jumped on the band wagon: by joining the multitude of NBA players with Twitter accounts.

With his impending free agency status still unknown, Lebron decided to create one identifying himself as the “King of Akron” in his bio description.

This was Lebron James’ first tweet:

Apparently, it was Chris Paul of the New Orleans Hornets who convinced Lebron to join the social networking and microblogging service.

This was confirmed by CP3 in his tweet below:

As head of the NBA free agent class of 2010, many are waiting on his decision if he will play with the Chicago Bulls, New York Knicks, New Jersey Nets or return with the Cleveland Cavaliers next season.

Will there be a possibility that Lebron’s official announcement will be via Twitter?

His 167, 000 followers (and counting) are waiting.

UPDATE July 8, 2010: In a one-hour TV special on ESPN titled “The Decision” last July 8 at 9:00 PM, Lebron has announced that he will be joining Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh to play for the Miami Heat starting next season.
