After suffering his first ever defeat and losing his WBA Super Featherweight Title to Juan Carlos Salgado last October 10, 2009, Jorge “Golden Boy” Linares returns inside the ring to make a fresh start.
He will face Rocky Juarez in the undercard for the Marquez vs Diaz 2 rematch on July 31, 2010 at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino, Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.
Venezuelan Jorge Linares (27-1, 18 KOs) is the former WBC featherweight champion and former WBA super featherweight champion.
His first loss was in stunning upset as he was knocked out in the 1st Round after going undefeated for 27 previous fights. He makes his debut as a lightweight hoping to carve a name for himself in that division.
American Rocky Juarez (28-6, 20 KOs) is a silver medalist in the 2000 Summer Olympics. Like Linares, he is making his debut as a lightweight hoping to finally win a world title after failing several times in the featherweight division.
=======================================================
UPDATE: Linares defeated Juarez via unanimous decision (99–90, 97–92, 99–90).
