In the main card of UFC Live: Jones vs Matyushenko on August 1, 2010 at the San Diego Sports Arena in San Diego, California, USA, Gomi will try to right his track against another UFC veteran in Tyson Griffin.

Japanese Takanori Gomi (31 wins-5 losses, 11 KOs / 6 submissions) is a former Shooto Welterweight Champion and was the final holder of the lightweight title from defunct promotion Pride Fighting Championship. He is also a four-time All Japan Combat Wrestling champion.

American Tyson Griffin (14 wins-3 losses, 5 KOs / 3 submissions) is one of the most exciting Octagon fighters having won five Fight of the Night and 1 Submission of the Night matches. He has a 7-3 record in the UFC.

His last fight was against Evan Dunham at UFC 115 where he lost via Split Decision.
