Video game fanatics have a reason to rejoice as Resident Evil is back for its fourth installment, Resident Evil: Afterlife and in 3D.
Actress Milla Jovovich will again be portraying Alice, the film’s main protagonist and former Umbrella Corporation security officer whose exposure to the T-Virus granted her superhuman abilities.
I have already seen the previous three films Resident Evil (2002), Resident Evil: Apocalypse (2004) and Resident Evil: Extinction (2007) and I admit that I have already grown tired of the series.
I know the fourth one will just be the same cat-and-mouse game between human survivors and various zombies and monsters.
However, when I read that the movie will feature Chris Redfield, a primary character from the video games for the first time, I become intrigued. It also helped that the character will be played by Wentworth Miller.
Yes, Wentworth Miller. You know, that Scofield guy with husky voice, piercing eyes and tattoo-laden body who had broken his brother from prison?
Ali Larter is also coming back as Claire Redfield: Chris’ younger sister. If the name rings a bell, it’s because Larter portrayed the dual character Niki Sanders and Tracy Strauss in Heroes.
PREMISE (Wikipedia):
Resident Evil: Afterlife picks up where the third film ended. Since the events of Resident Evil: Extinction, Alice has been roaming the world searching for any remaining survivors. Alice also comes face to face with her arch-nemesis, Albert Wesker, for the first time in the series. As she enters the ruined Los Angeles, she stumbles onto a base of Umbrella, surrounded by zombies. She then teams up with a group of survivors who had been hiding in Los Angeles since the T-virus outbreak, and helps them to free another group held-up in a prison, among them Claire’s brother, Chris Redfield.
Resident Evil: Afterlife is written, directed and produced by Paul W. S. Anderson for a budget of $60 million.
