After successfully twice defending his WBA World Featherweight title against Rogers Mtagwa and Jonathan Victor Barros, undefeated Yuriorkis Gamboa returns inside the boxing ring hoping to add the IBF Featherweight Title in his resume and unify the titles.
At HBO’s presentation of Boxing After Dark on September 11, 2010, Gamboa faces IBF World Featherweight Champion Giovanni Segura at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.
Cuban Yuriorkis “El Ciclon de Guantánamo” Gamboa is undefeated in 16 bouts and 14 of those were via knockout. As an amateur boxer, he won an Olympic gold medal in the flyweight division at the 2004 Summer Olympics. He won the WBA Featherweight crown against Jose Rojas on April 17, 2009 via 10th Round TKO.
Mexican Orlando “Siri” Salido (34 wins-10 losses, 22 KOs) is the current IBF World Featherweight Champion. He lost to Juan Manuel Marquez in his first title shot; outpointed titleholder Robert Guerrero but then reportedly tested positive for steroids, thus making the result no-contest; and lost a split decision to Cristobal Cruz in a third title fight. He finally won a belt when he easily outpointed Cruz in a rematch
The Yuriorkis Gamboa vs Orlando Salido “Boxing After Dark” main event will be held at the Monumental Plaza de Torosin in Mexico City, Distrito Federal, Mexico on September 11, 2010.

UPDATE: On September 11, 2010 Gamboa fought Orlando Salido to unify the WBA and IBF Featherweight titles with the result being Gamboa winning by unanimous decision. Referee Joe Cortez ruled that Salido knocked down Gamboa in the eighth round, but replays showed that Gamboa clearly slipped. Gamboa knocked Salido down in the 12th round, but was docked two points for hitting Salido in the back of his heard while Salido was down. With this win Gamboa became the first Cuban boxer to hold the IBF world title since the organization’s inception.
