Last September 25, 2010, the final for DREAM’s Light Heavyweight Grand Prix was held in Nagoya, Japan.

DREAM 16 featured Gegard “The Dreamcatcher” Mousasi and Tatsuya “Vicious” Mizuno in the main event battling it out for the first DREAM Light Heavyweight Championship.

Both won their Dream 15 bouts last July 10 to go this far; Mousasi against Jake O’Brien and Mizuno against Melvin Manhoef.

Armenian Gegard Mousasi (30 wins – 3 losses) is the former Dream Middleweight Champion, Cage Warriors Middleweight Champion and the former Strikeforce Light Heavyweight Champion. He is ranked as the sixth best light heavyweight in the world.

His last loss was to Muhammed Lawal at Strikeforce: Nashville where he lost his Strikeforce Light Heavyweight title.

Dream 16 results: Mousasi defeated Mizuno via submission (rear naked choke) at 6:10 of round 1 to become the 1st DREAM light heavyweight champion.
