30 Days of Night released in 2007 starring Josh Hartnett is one of the best vampire movies I have seen.
Directed by David Slade (Eclipse anyone?), it evolves on the remote Alaskan town of Barrow where every year, it enters into a thirty-day long period without sunshine. Thirty days of night that is, hence the title.
One time, a group of vampires taking advantage of the darkness wandered into the town and started feeding on the towns folk. A small group of people banded together to survive the onslaught until sunlight returns.
While I like the Blade Trilogy and The Twilight Saga, the former is too violent while the latter is too cheesy romantic. 30 Days of Night is somewhere in between. The movie’s ending is also a strong tearjerker.

The most awaited second season of the American musical comedy-drama television series Glee finally had its premiere today.
For millions of Filipinos all over the world, Charice Pempengco is a source of pride as she makes her first appearance as the character Sunshine Corazon, a foreign exchange student.
In the episode titled “Audition”, Charice first appeared on-screen for one second humming along with the cast as they sing “Empire State of Mind”.

It is a sports mascot’s job to pump-up the crowd.
Before the college football game between Ohio University and Ohio State last September 18, a melee ensued between the team’s mascots, Rufus the Bobcat and Brutus the Buckeye when the former tackled the latter to the ground.
Not exactly the conventional way to do it but it pumped-up the crowd nevertheless.

The twelfth season of UFC’s The Ultimate Fighter had its season premier episode last week.
As expected, UFC President Dana White met the fighters in a customary bleep-filled motivational speech. He also introduced the coaches, UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre and number one contender Josh Koscheck.

Yesterday in a game against Major League Baseball’s Florida Marlins, Welington Castillo of the Chicago Cubs shattered his bat after hitting a ball.
Disaster struck when a large shard of the bat flew to rookie Tyler Corvin who was running towards home base.

Former UFC Heavyweight Champion Frank Mir returns to the Octagon to embark on a new title quest this September 25, 2010.
Mir was supposed to meet former interim UFC Heavyweight Champion Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira but the latter had to pull out of his bout due to a recurring hip injury that will require surgery.
Stepping on to the plate for Nogueira is Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipović.
The two will headline UFC 119: Mir vs Cro Cop LIVE from the Conseco Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana, USA.
