Lebron James’ New Nike “Rise” CommercialCategory: Basketball
Before the Heat vs Celtics game on NBA Opening Night, Nike ran a new 90-second commercial titled “Rise” featuring Lebron James.
In the commercial, Lebron was asking repeatedly, “What should I do?”
That decision created a huge controversy with fans burning replicas of his jersey and Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert making an open letter of hate and disdain against the man.
At one point in the commercial, he referenced Charles Barkley who himself left the Phoenix Suns to join forces with Hakeem Olajuwon and Clyde Drexler in Houston.
Lebron also declares, “I am not a role model.”
Here’s the Nike “Rise” commercial:
Did Lebron made the right decision to join forces with Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh in Miami?
Can he redeem himself?
Only time will tell.
UPDATE November 4, 2010:
Here is Cleveland’s response uploaded at YouTube describing it as:
… just more “narcissistic, self-promotional build-up” from a guy who’s actions speak louder than his words.
“This is about the difference between the expectations others may have of him versus the expectations he has of himself.”? Yes, we expected greatness.
