PCSO’s (Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office) Grand Lotto 6/55 has now caught the Philippines on fire!
Introduced just last April 2010, it has attracted millions of Filipinos from all walks of life. The current jackpot prize is already at a record high of P738 million ($16,772,727.27 in US dollars) that’s why. The next draw, on November 29, 2010 will be the 85th consecutive draw in search of a winner.
Even non-bettors like me have caught on to the craze. Each card combination is worth P20. I don’t really believe in including your lucky numbers, birthdays, and the like so I just chose random combinations.
So, what are the chances to win the jackpot?
In the Grand Lotto 6/55 draw, the number lot is from 1 to 55. The odds of getting the 6-digit combination correctly is 1 in 28,989,675!
Meaning, you are more likely to get struck by lightning or die in an airplane accident than winning.
Heck, your odds of becoming anointed as a saint is even greater.
The previous record for an unclaimed pot was back in 2009 when the 6/49 Super Lotto prize reached P347 million. It was eventually won by two bettors who had picked the same number combination. The prize was split evenly between them.
I will update this post later tonight to include the winning combinations. Hopefully, someone wins. Or better yet, many will win. God, that P738 million pot is too large to be brought home by only one.

Let us say you buy Grand Lotto 6/55 in each draw without fail and you maintain a particular 6-number combination. Then the number of years that you are going to wait for your particular 6-number combination to appear is less or more than 185,195.28 years.

Winning 6 55 is parang latest version ng kantang “one in a million, chance of a lifetime”. Kaya lang magbabago and ryhme: it’s “one in twenty nine million chance in 40,000 lifetimes…..”. Pero taya pa rin ako. Kasi already got may 3s, and isang 4. hehehe.

OPINION: Tonight’s prize will reach as much as P740 million. The population of the Philippines is about 94 million. If am the ruler of our government, then I will decide to divide the P740 million prize by 94 million population so that each person, regardless of age, will receive at least P7 million. Hence, everyone will have a good living for some times. But I do not know if this will happen.

if you have 580 milion lying around, then contact me, ill tell you WHY. it’s a sure win, even if somebody else IS LUCKY ENOUGH and wins the jackpot with you, you will still win a minimum of 634.6M (500M + 134.6M) after sharing the 1Bllion jackpot with somebody else. why 1B jackpot? if you bet 580M now then surely the jackpot is gonna grow to a minimum of 1Billion. i would love to do this myself but i dont have that kind of money.

MANILA, Philippines – Someone is richer by P741 million in the wink of an eye.
A lone bettor from Luzon correctly picked the winning combination for Monday night’s 6/55 Grand Lotto draw, the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) revealed.
With over 29 million possible combinations, the unidentified bettor correctly guessed the winning numbers 11-16-42- 47-31-37.
The bettor won P741,176,323.20, according to PCSO central operations manager Arnel Casas.
