Why is everyone changing their Facebook profile picture into a cartoon character?

That’s what I asked myself this morning when I logged in to my Facebook account and made the discovery.

Apparently, this Internet meme is supposed to boost awareness on the campaign against child abuse.

“Change your facebook profile picture to a cartoon from your childhood and invite your friends to do the same. Until Monday (December 6), there should be no human faces on facebook, but a stash of memories. This is for eliminating violence against children.”

For the spirit of fun, I joined the bandwagon and changed my Facebook profile picture into Pumbaa and Timon. Check out the About This Site page of this web site to know why.
