2010-11 NBA Season | Amare Stoudemire Sets NY Knicks Franchise Record For Consecutive 30-Point Game
Category: Basketball
In a game against the Denver Nuggets today, Amare Stoudemire sets a franchise record for the New York Knicks with his eight consecutive 30-point game.
The previous Knicks’ record of seven straight 30-point games was set by Willie Naulls in 1962. During his eight-game run Stoudemire is averaging an insane 33.9 points on .584 shooting.
Stoudemire hasn’t scored less than thirty points since recording 24 on November 27 and has recorded the following totals since: 37, 35, 34, 31, 34, 34, 36 and 30.
What’s more important that Amare’s personal exploit is that his team got the win 129-125 for their first eight-game winning streak in 16 years.
The last time the Knicks did it was from December 27, 1994 to January 13, 1995. At 16-9, they are off to their best start after 25 games since they were 18-7 in 1996-97.
NOTES: Drafted by the Phoenix Suns 9th overall in the 2002 NBA Draft straight from high-school, he immediately made an impact winning the Rookie of the Year Award.
Known for his powerful dunks and athleticism, he played eight seasons with the Phoenix Suns before he signed with the New York Knicks in the 2010 NBA Free-Agency (AKA Summer of Lebron).
The Knicks vs Nuggets game drew extra attention because of Carmelo Anthony, who reportedly wants to play in New York.
