After dismantling former UFC Lightweight champion BJ Penn, not once but twice, current champion Frankie Edgar returns to defend his title.

In the first day of the new year on January 1, 2011 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, UFC 125: Resolution happens featuring Edgar in the main event.

He will be facing undefeated challenger Gray Maynard who was the only man to have defeated him.

American Frankie Edgar (13 wins-1 loss, 2 KOs/3 submissions) is a submission specialist who has been in three UFC Fight of the Night battles. He is currently ranked as the #1 Lightweight fighter in the world by both Sherdog and MMAWeekly. His first fight against BJ Penn was nominated for 2010 ESPYs Upset of the Year.

In his last fight, he again outclassed BJ Penn to win via Unanimous Decision at UFC 118.

American Gray “The Bully” Maynard (11 wins-0 loss, 2 KOs) is the only fighter to hold a win over UFC lightweight champion Frank Edgar. He is the current number one contender for the lightweight belt.

His last fight was at UFC 118 where he defeated Kenny Florian via Unanimous Decision.
