American Idol Judges 2011

The tenth season of the hit FOX musical reality series American Idol is set to premiere this January 19, 2011.

Yes, it has already been that long that the show has been running. And for ten seasons, American Idol has helped discovered stars who truly shine above all the rest.

Of course, deciding from among the thousands of participants who will walk away with a record deal and the fame and fortune that are sure to come along with it would not be possible without the judges, the American Idol judges.

And this season, there are going to be major changes in who the judges will be.

Gone are the original judges since the very first season, Paula Abdul who left at the end of Season 8 and Simon Cowell who left at the end of Season 9. The only one left from the power trio is Randy Jackson.

Also gone are judges Kara DioGuardi and Ellen Degeneres from Season 9.

Who are the new American Idol judges?

For American Idol Season 10, there will be 3 judges. Randy Jackson is of course there. The other two?

Surprise, surprise! Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler.

Well, not really that surprising since the two are considered one of the most famous singers of their own times and music genre. They are very talented in their own right so they should also know how to look for talents right? That remains to be seen.

Steven Tyler

The lead singer of the seminal rock band Aerosmith, in which he also plays the harmonica, and occasional piano and percussion.

He is also known as the “Demon of Screamin'” and is equally known for his on-stage acrobatics. During his high-energy performances, he usually dresses in bright, colorful outfits with his trademark scarves hanging from his microphone stand.

He recently was included among Rolling Stone’s 100 Greatest Singers. He was also ranked 3rd on Hit Parader’s Top 100 Metal Vocalists of All Time. In 2001 he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with Aerosmith.

Tension flared between Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry and Tyler due to Tyler’s plans to become a talent judge on American Idol. Perry criticized Tyler for not consulting the rest of the band, saying that he “found out on the internet, like the rest of the world” and that nobody else in the band knew anything about it.

For fans of the silver screen, he is most famous at the father of the beautiful Liv Tyler [source: Wikipedia]
