The first Strikeforce Welterweight Champion is back to defend his title for the second time.
In the main event of Strikeforce: Diaz vs Cyborg, Nick Diaz will have his title on the line against challenger Evangelista Santos.
It will be held on January 29, 2011 at the HP Pavilion in San Jose, California, USA.
American Nick “The Stockton Bad Boy” Diaz (23 wins-7 losses, 12 KOs/7 submissions) is the current Strikeforce Welterweight Champion and a former WEC and IFC Welterweight champion. He won the vacant Strikeforce Welterweight Championship when he knocked-out Marius Žaromskis at Strikforce: Miami. He is the older brother of UFC fighter Nate Diaz.
His last fight was against K.J. Noons at Strikeforce: Diaz vs. Noons II in October where he successfully defended his title for the first time.
Brazilian Evangelista “Cyborg” Santos (18 wins-13 losses, 11 KOs/5 submissions) is a member of the famous Chute Boxe Academy. He is married to Strikeforce Women’s Middleweight Champion Cristiane “Cyborg” Santos.
His last fight was against Marius Žaromskis in June where he won via TKO in the first round.
UPDATE January 29, 2011: Diaz defeats Santos via submission (arm bar) at 4:50 of round 2 to retain the Strikeforce Welterweight Championship.
