Valentine's Day 2011 Google Doodle

It’s the day of LOVE.

Google greets lovers all over the world with a special doodle that says “Happy Valentine’s Day from Google & Robert Indiana”.

Who is Robert Indiana by the way? He is an American artist associated with the Pop Art movement.

Apparently, the doodle is inspired by Robert Indiana’s most famous sculpture, LOVE.

Robert Indiana LOVE sculpture

It consists of the letters LO (with the O canted sideways) over the letters VE. The image was originally designed as a Christmas card for the Museum of Modern Art in 1964, and first exhibited as a sculpture in New York City in 1970.

The LOVE design has been reproduced in a variety of formats. Likewise, the sculpture has been recreated in multiple versions and a variety of colors, and is now on display around the world.

Make your loved ones happy with these Valentine’s Day poems.

They need to give Robert Indiana credit when you click on the graphic. I doubt he did the graphic for them though. I think they totally ripped him off.
