Kobe Bryant Grabs Fourth NBA All-Star Game MVP AwardCategory: Basketball
Kobe Bryant of the Los Angeles Lakers was named as the MVP of the 2011 NBA All-Star Game to tie Bob Pettit’s NBA record with his fourth MVP award in just 10 years.
The Black Mamba scored 37 points and grabbed 14 rebounds in front of his hometown crowd at the Staples Center, Los Angeles, to lead the West to a 148-143 victory over the East squad.
“This will be my last All-Star game in front of these home fans, so it feels good to be here.” Bryant said.
Kobe previously won the All-Star MVP award in 2002 and 2007 and shared it with former team mate Shaquille O’Neal in 2009.
Lebron James led the East squad with 29 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists – only the second triple-double in the midseason classic’s history.
Michael Jordan did it first in 1997.
