EVENT: Strikeforce: Feijao vs. Henderson (Strikeforce: Columbus)

DATE: March 5, 2011

VENUE: Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio, United States

FIGHT DETAILS: Current Strikeforce Light Heavyweight Champion Rafael “Feijão” Cavalcante defends his title against former Pride FC middleweight and welterweight champion Dan Henderson.

Brazilian Cavalcante (10 wins – 2 losses, 9 KOs / 1 submission) won the Strikeforce Light Heavyweight Championship after defeating Muhammed Lawal at Strikeforce: Houston last August 21, 2010.

American Henderson (26 wins, 9 KOs – 8 losses) earned the title shot after knocking out Renato “Babalu” Sobral at Strikeforce: St. Louis last December 4, 2010.

FIGHT RESULT: Henderson defeated Cavalcante via KO (punch) at 0:50 of round 3 to win the Strikeforce Light Heavyweight Championship.

Henderson started the third round by pushing Feijao into the cage with strikes. Feijao pushed him away, but then caught a right hand from Henderson. He fell to the ground, and Henderson pounced and finished off Feijao with a series of strikes to end it 50 seconds into the third round.

The fight had been headed towards a clinch-filled, five-round bout until Henderson was able to land the power shot that he’s become known for.

Hendo is age 40.
