If you still think Microsoft founder Bill Gates is the richest man in the world, you are wrong.

In fact, the spot he have held on for years has not been his since last year.

Forbes' 2011 List of Richest People In The World

The record now belongs to Mexican Carlos Slim Helú who maintained his position in Forbes’ 2011 list of richest people in the world.

He topped the world’s 1,210 billionaires with a fortune estimated at $74 billion.

Helú is the chairman and CEO of telecommunications companies Telmex and América Móvil and has extensive holdings in other Mexican companies through his conglomerate, Grupo Carso SAB, as well as business interests elsewhere in the world.

Second-placer Bill Gates has a net worth of $55 billion.

Facebook founder and Time’s Person of the Year Mark Zuckerberg is ranked #52 with an estimated worth of $13.5 billion. Co-founder Dustin Moskovitz is the youngest in the list, eight days younger than his former college roommate Zuckerberg.

Google founders Sergey Brin and Larry Page both come in at #24 with $19.8 billion.
