Before David Copperfield, David Blaine and Criss Angel, there was Harry Houdini.
Harry Houdini is the stage name of American magician and escapologist Erik Weisz.
He was born 137 years ago today on March 24, 1874 at Budapest, Hungary.
To honor that, Google has a special doodle featuring the magician with handcuffs and chains.
Houdini became famous for performing seemingly impossible escape acts in front of a live audience. Some of the most notable were the Milk Can Escape, the Chinese Water Torture Cell and Suspended straitjacket escape. He was even buried alive and escaped to the surface unharmed.
