Puerto Rican Lopez (30 wins – 0 loss, 27 KOs) is the former WBO super bantamweight champion and current WBO Featherweight champion. Ring Magazine currently rates Lopez as the number nine pound-for-pound boxer in the world.
In his last fight, he successfully defended his title against Rafael Marquez via 8th Round knockout.
Mexican Salido (34 wins – 11 losses – 2 draws, 22 KOs) is the former IBF Featherweight champion.
In his last fight, he was defeated by Yuriorkis Gamboa via Unanimous Decision.
FIGHT RESULT: In a huge upset, former IBF 126-pound titleholder Orlando Salido scored an eighth round TKO over previously unbeaten WBO featherweight champion Juan Manuel “Juanma” Lopez. After four competitive rounds, Salido floored JuanMa hard at the end of the fifth round. Salido was on the attack in the sixth round, but a the still-hurt Lopez survived. In round seven, JuanMa came back, but after Salido launched an attack in round eight referee Roberto Ramirez Jr. waved it off even though JuanMa was still fighting back. Time was 1:39.

defenitely it needs a rematch
maybe its premature..but the safety of the boxer is at stake..everybody should not take it for granted…juanma is a great boxer..he should bounce back for that loss

The fight was good and entertaining. I think the referee just did well in stopping the fight because Juanma was absorbing a lot of strong punches and he had trouble defending himself.We should not judge the stoppage on how Juanma was fighting to weather the barrage of punches thrown by Salido in the 8th round. Rather, we should gauge the stoppage from the number of punches the champion has been getting since the first round. This is boxing. The health and safety of the fighters should be the primordial concern. Yes I agree, a rematch must be set.
