Bernard Hopkins Becomes Oldest Boxing Champion, 46

Never count the old man out.

Last December 18, 2010 Bernard “The Executioner” Hopkins and Jean Pascal met for the first time for Pascal’s Ring, WBC, WBC Diamond and IBO Light Heavyweight titles.

Although most believed Hopkins won, the bout ended in a majority draw decision.

The rematch was held on May 21, 2011 at the Bell Centre, Montreal in Quebec, Canada. This time, the 46 year-old Hopkins won’t be denied as he becomes the oldest world champion in boxing history when he outpointed Jean Pascal for 12 rounds in their bout titled Dynasty II.

Hopkins defeated Pascal via unanimous decision (115-113,116-112,115-114) taking Pascal’s WBC, IBO and The Ring Light Heavyweight titles.

He is the oldest fighter to take a major world belt since George Foreman, who was 45 when he knocked out Michael Moorer in 1995 for the heavyweight title.

That’s good for Hopkins to earned the world title once again to prove that age doesn’t matter at all.

It’s the skill and the will to win.
