2011 NBA Finals | American Airlines Series, The RematchCategory: Basketball
Welcome to the American Airlines series!
In 2006, the Dallas Mavericks reached the NBA Finals for the first time losing to eventual champion Miami Heat who also reached the NBA Finals just for the first time.
This year, the new look Dallas Mavericks is again making a comeback after 5 years. Ironically though, it will be facing the same team that denied the city its first championship, the Miami Heat who features a revamped roster as well.
Both teams play on arenas built by airline carrier American Airlines. The home to the Mavericks is the American Airlines Center while American Airlines Arena for the Heat – hence the title American Airlines series.
Last year, the Mavericks bowed out in the Semifinal Round to the Denver Nuggets while the Heat lost in the First Round to the Boston Celtics.
After dispatching their Conference Finals opponents both in 5 games: the Heat against the Bulls while the Mavericks against the Thunder, these two teams are destined for a rematch of their 2006 NBA Finals showdown.
Check out the 2011 NBA Finals Schedule. The NBA Finals will be under a Thursday-Sunday-Tuesday rotation.
