UFC 136: Edgar vs Maynard III, Conclusion of the Trilogy?Category: MMA
UFC 136: Edgar vs Maynard III might show us the next UFC Lightweight Champion.
In 2008 at UFC Fight Night: Florian vs Lauzon, Gray Maynard defeated Frankie Edgar via Unanimous Decision to give Edgar his only loss.
Edgar then went on a tear in the division beating Hermes França, Sean Sherk and Matt Veach before his upset victory over B.J. Penn at UFC 122 to become the new UFC Lightweight champion.
Proving that it was no fluke, Edgar again outclassed Penn in their rematch at UFC 118.
Then at UFC 125: Resolution, he set out to avenge his only mixed-martial arts loss against Gray Maynard. It was a back-and-forth battle with Edgar drawing first blood early but Maynard coming back to regain the upper hand. It was declared a draw.
So, at UFC 136, the two fighters start Round 6 of what promises to be one of the most exciting matchups in recent memory.
Will the trilogy conclude with a clear-cut decision?
