A fictional detective created by Scottish author and physician Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Sherlock Holmes is definitely one of the most recognizable sleuths in history.

In fact, the Guinness World Records has consistently listed Sherlock Holmes as the “most portrayed movie character” with 75 actors playing the part in over 211 films.

The most famous of these is 2009′s Sherlock Holmes which was nominated for two Academy Awards and made $523 million at the box office.

This Yuletide season, the sequel Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows is coming to the big screen with Robert Downey, Jr. and Jude Law reprising their roles as Sherlock Holmes and Dr. John Watson, respectively.

STORLYLINE:

Sherlock Holmes and his sidekick Dr. Watson join forces to outwit and bring down their fiercest adversary, Professor Moriarty.

Sherlock Holmes 2: A Game of Shadows is directed by Guy Ritchie and produced by Joel Silver for a budget of $125 million.

Sherlock Holmes 2: A Game of Shadows is scheduled for release in the United States on December 16, 2011 by Warner Bros. Pictures.
