The Super Bowl, every year is the most-watched American television broadcast with hundreds of millions tuning in to see the highest level of competition American football has to offer.
It is the championship game of the National Football League (NFL) and widely considered as the largest sporting event in the USA.
Because of its high viewership, advertisers air their commercials during the broadcast of the event to gain the highest maximum exposure for their product.
Although it comes with a price… a hefty price at that.
All commercials for the game sold out by Thanksgiving 2011, at an average price of $3.5 million per thirty-second ad, by far the highest rate for Super Bowl advertising in the event’s history. At least one thirty-second advertisement commanded a price of $4 million.
This year’s Super Bowl game will be played Sunday, February 5, 2012, at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana. Kickoff time is scheduled for approximately 6:30 p.m. EST. It will be disputed between the New England Patriots and the New York Giants.
Due to the high cost of investing in advertising on the Super Bowl, companies regularly develop their most expensive advertisements for this broadcast. As a result, watching and discussing the broadcast’s commercials has become a significant aspect of the event.
