To the casual viewer, the entertainer who goes by the name M.I.A. doesn’t ring a bell.

But thanks to her tasteless singular act, M.I.A. must be so happy now that she is at the center of attention and will be the talk of many for days.

At the Super Bowl XLVI, the ageless Madonna gave a halftime show worthy for the ages – near-fall notwithstanding. Despite her already advanced age, The Queen of Pop showed us that she is still the Material Girl that we know.

With the Super Bowl still reeling from the Janet Jackson – Justin Timberlake wardrobe malfunction (?) in 2004, the producers don’t want another one to happen in this family-oriented show especially that Madonna was known to  engage in shocking acts in her heydays.

However, his side-act M.I.A. must be thinking that this is her chance for instant fame and recognition as while singing “Give Me All Your Luvin’” with Madonna and Nicki Minaj, she flashed a body part instead of singing the lyric “shit” in the song.

No, she flashed not a nipple but her middle finger. It was a finger malfunction!

The screen briefly went blurred after M.I.A.’s gesture in what seemed like a late attempt to cut out the camera shot.

The Super Bowl is viewed by more than 100 million people, the biggest TV event of the year – so, this act will surely put NBC in hot water with the Federal Communications Commission.

NBC has apologized for M.I.A.’s middle finger, saying

“We apologize for the inappropriate gesture that aired during halftime. It was a spontaneous gesture that our delay system caught late.”
