Singer Whitney Houston was found dead in her guest room at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, in Beverly Hills, California, of causes not immediately known in the afternoon of February 11, 2012.

As her death happened in the eve of the music industry’s biggest night, the Grammys, producers quickly scrambled to plan a tribute to Houston, securing Jennifer Hudson to perform.

Hudson was one of the finalists on the third season of American Idol, a Best Supporting Actress-awardee for the movie Dreamgirls and a Grammy winner herself for her self-titled debut album, “Jennifer Hudson.”

Check out her Whitney Houston tribute below singing Houston’s trademark song, “I Will Always Love You.”
