NCAA Basketball Tournament 2012: Kentucky Wildcats Wins National Championship!
Category: BasketballThe March Madness has ended.
After six grueling rounds in the NCAA Men’s Division I Basketball Tournament, one team emerged on top, the Kentucky Wildcats – which also happen to be the winningest in the history of college basketball.
The number one overall seed entering the tournament, the Wildcats managed a 67-59 victory over the Kansas Jayhawks in the championship game becoming the #1 overall seed to win it all for just the second time in 10 years.
Leading 41-27 by halftime, the team never looked back despite being threatened in the final minutes to pull up the school’s eighth title overall and first since 1998.
Anthony Davis, the 2012 National Player of the Year only scored six points but he showed that he can dominate in other areas as he contributed 16 rebounds, six blocks, five assists and three steals.
Doron Lamb led the Wildcats (38-2) with 22 points, including back-to-back 3-pointers that put them up by 16 with 10 minutes left. Michael Kidd-Gilchrist was another headliner, creating space for himself to score all 11 of his points in the first half.
Kentuck’s coach, John Calipari wins his first NCAA Championship title.
Tyshawn Taylor led the Jayhawks with 19 points and 17 rebounds..
